Making life more comfortable along the trail...
The volunteer team from FOTT have been responsible for installing a new shelter at the 16km mark, near the high point of the trail). These shelters ensure that our walkers and cyclists have an option to get out of the weather whether it is rain, snow or blazing sun. Constructed to reflect the style of old railway huts, these are functional but welcome additions to our trail.
Along with these, the team have also constructed 14 picnic tables - again placed along the trail route at great spots to take a break, wait for friends or stop and refuel.
Locations of the latest installations include:
11km by the Mt Pureora toilets
16kms next to the new shelter
44kms next to the Maramataha Bridge
59.6 km No 11 Camp (a second table at this popular lunch stop)
64.2 km Lookout over Deer Farm
82.4 km Bennett Rd Campsite and carpark x 2
